Whilst outdoor events are most obviously affected, weather conditions can have an impact on all event types. For example, treacherous, or just unpleasant traveling conditions can strongly influence your audience’s desire to attend your event.

Extreme weather conditions should be considered within your contingency and emergency planning, as well as being included in your insurance cover. For example, your Risk Assessment should consider;

  • What time of year is your event? Is there a likelihood of inclement weather or extreme weather conditions? E.g. heat, cold, rain.
  • Is the event location vulnerable or exposed in the event of extreme weather?

When checking weather forecasts, you should always look at more than one source. Checking multiple forecasts will help you gather a more rounded picture of the weather conditions you may be facing.
